The Shanti Space Retreat

Forest & Ocean

Forest in the morning. Ocean in the afternoon. Stillness woven through both.

This retreat lives between two worlds — the ancient quiet of the Tapada de Mafra, one of Portugal's most protected royal forests, and the wild Atlantic energy of Ericeira just 10 minutes away. Each day moves between them naturally: mornings held in the hush of the trees, afternoons open to wherever the coast takes you.

It is intimate by design. Small enough that you are never anonymous, never lost in the crowd. Big enough that you find your own rhythm within it.

Intentional Structure

We blend guided moments, open exploration, and space to reflect—so the experience feels both focused and fluid

Collaborative Energy

Connection is a core part of the process. You’ll learn just as much from the group as from the content itself.

Expert Facilitation

Led by experienced guides who know how to hold space, encourage participation, and keep things moving with purpose.

A Supportive Space

Our events prioritize comfort, safety, and respect—so you can show up as you are and fully engage in the process.

Accomodation

Shanti Space offers a handful of carefully chosen accommodation options. Private ensuite rooms for those who want complete solitude. Private rooms with shared bathrooms for a balance of privacy and simplicity. Double rooms for those coming with a friend or happy to share. And a dormitory for those who travel light and welcome good company.

Whatever you choose, the forest is right outside your door.

The Shanti Space

The Shanti Space is intimate in every sense of the word. Nestled inside the Tapada de Mafra, it is the kind of place that wraps around you quietly — where the forest is close, the atmosphere is warm, and everything feels a little more personal. Thirty minutes from Lisbon airport. Twenty minutes from Ericeira. And yet, once you're here, nowhere else feels relevant.

The Food

Mornings open with a generous brunch — nourishing, plant-based, and unhurried. The kind of meal that sets the tone for a slow day. Afternoons bring a light snack before the evening practice. Simple, considered, enough.

Time in Nature

Afternoons here have their own particular flavour. Some days you'll follow the ancient paths of the Tapada de Mafra on a long forest walk, the trees doing something good for your nervous system that you can't quite name. Other days you'll find yourself in Ericeira — coffee in hand, watching the surfers, wondering why life isn't always this easy. There are beaches nearby for those who want to swim, and waves for those who want to ride them.

Five days, and somehow the afternoons never feel short.
