Monte da Orada Retreat

Our Signature Retreat

Some places have a way of pulling you in and not letting go — in the best possible way. Monte Orada is one of them. A green valley in the Alentejo, wild and unhurried, surrounded by untamed nature and wide Atlantic beaches. Some people spend their afternoons riding horses through the landscape or surfing the empty coastline. Others never leave the valley at all, and somehow that feels like enough.

This is our home retreat — the one people come back to, year after year, often with the same faces around the dinner table. Up to 25 people, a group that has its own quiet continuity, its own warmth. If the morning silence is where you find yourself, Monte Orada is where you remember you belong somewhere.

Intentional Structure

We blend guided moments, open exploration, and space to reflect—so the experience feels both focused and fluid.

Collaborative Energy

Connection is a core part of the process. You’ll learn just as much from the group as from the content itself.

Expert Facilitation

Led by experienced guides who know how to hold space, encourage participation, and keep things moving with purpose.

A Supportive Space

Our events prioritize comfort, safety, and respect—so you can show up as you are and fully engage in the process.

Accomodation

Monte Orada offers a range of accommodation to suit however you like to rest. Private ensuite rooms for those who want their own space entirely. Shared double rooms for those coming with a friend, or happy to share. Bungalows tucked into the landscape. A treehouse, for those who want to sleep a little closer to the canopy. And a dormitory for those who travel light and don't mind good company.

Whatever you choose, you wake up to the same valley, the same birdsong, the same morning air.

Monte Orada

There are places that exist at a different frequency. Monte Orada is one of them. Tucked into a green valley in the Alentejo, on Portugal's wild southwest coast, it is 71 hectares of untamed nature, organic gardens, ancient silence, and wide open sky. The kind of place where, within hours of arriving, you stop checking the time.

The center is built on permaculture principles — deeply connected to the land, designed to tread lightly on it. Wild beaches lie just nearby. The valley holds everything else. Some participants spend the whole week inside it and never feel like they missed a thing.

This is our home. We keep coming back, and so do the people who've been here before.

The Food

Every meal at Monte Orada is a buffet. Generous, colourful, and genuinely beautiful. Plant-based, nourishing, and varied enough that you'll find yourself looking forward to it as much as the practice. Flexible for those who need it.

Eating here is never rushed. It's part of the rhythm — a moment to land, to share, to refuel before the afternoon opens up.

Time in Nature

Afternoons at Monte Orada belong to you — and the landscape invites everything. Walk to the wild, empty beaches nearby. Paddle out for a surf. Hike through the hills. Ride horses through the valley. Swim somewhere that feels like it's yours alone. Or stay put: lie in the garden, float in the bio pool, find a hammock, and let the afternoon dissolve. There is no right way to spend it. The nature here does its own work, with or without a plan.

Day Two to Day seven

Set Intentions & Reflect

Meditation, pranayama & Qigong to open the day, followed by breakfast and your choice of morning class: Vinyasa Yoga or Taekwondo. Mornings are held in silence — a collective agreement that creates more space than you'd expect.

Morning

Afternoon are yours, entirely. The silence lifts at lunch, and from there the day opens wide. Rest, explore, adventure, or do nothing at all.

Afternoon

A soft practice of Yin Yoga or Tai Chi to close the day, followed by dinner together. The long kind, with good conversation for those who want it.

Evening

No class is mandatory. You follow what calls you, each day.

Day eight

Look Forward & Wrap Up

We explore the possibilities beyond this moment, making space for growth, action, and forward momentum. As we end our time together, we honor the experience, the growth, and the connections made along the way.
